Program for first-generation students to end
Great local story about the impact of MAP grants and why students need them to be funded.
– SIU System President Randy Dunn issued this statement following the Governor’s Veto of the FY 16 budget which includes funding for the university:
Leading up to passage of a state budget last month, SIU focused on telling our story and sharing the vital resources we bring to our region and share with the entire state. As lawmakers work together to remake this spending plan, we will continue that effort and will work with everyone in Springfield to ensure the SIU System remains a priority.
While we stand ready to be partners in resolving the state’s fiscal issues, it cannot be done on the back of SIU, which like other state universities, is already on the cusp of making devastating decisions impacting our students, our staffs and the communities and regions we serve.
Like everyone, we will take a wait-and-see approach in the coming days.
